I went onto my blog and typed in ‘blogging routine’ into the search bar and I was surprised to see that I have never published any type of blogging routine whatsoever on my blog. I wanted to see how my routine has changed throughout the years but I’m pretty sure I didn’t have a solid routine before hence the absence of the post.
All thanks to the Notion app, I now have a solid blogging routine that works for me. I am more inspired to write because I always have post ideas listed so whenever I feel like working on my blog, I can always look at the list and start writing.
First step is to open my Notion app and look at the Content Calendar page where I have listed pending post ideas that I want to publish on my blog. I either, 1. write the post in the app itself, or 2. go into WordPress and straightaway right my post there.
To help with writing, I usually have some sort of drink to accompany me. It’s always between tea and coffee. I drink those two like I need air to breathe. I can’t write in silence so I play ambience ASMR on YouTube. My favourite would be coffee shop or library ambient with fireplaces, turning pages, and jotting notes. Ugh it’s so good! I used to write while listening to music but I found myself writing better with ambience ASMR instead.
After I finish a post – if I’m still inspired – I will continue writing the next post. I found writing in batch and taking blog photos in batch really ease my blogging routine. However, after years and years of blogging, I still do not enjoy taking blog photos. I prefer writing the most. 🤓
If the post warrants me to use my photos, I will set up my camera and props for photography and take my blog photos in batch, meaning I will photograph for a few posts. If not, then I’ll happily use stock images from royalty-free websites. I’ll edit my images using Fotor app on my Mac. I used to use Adobe Photoshop but since I bought a new laptop last year I lost the Photoshop app so the free one from the Mac App Store would do for now.
Once I’ve inserted images onto my blog posts and proofread them, I will schedule them. Luckily WordPress will send out a tweet once your post is published so I never had to schedule tweets or manually tweet out my post links.
What’s your blogging routine?
